Building Boldness
I used to think I wanted to help people build resilience, to help arm them to handle adversity, bounce back from chaos, keep plowing forward. And I do. We need resilience. We are resilient. If you’re alive, you’re resilient. You survived childhood, puberty, adolescence, your twenties, losses, disappointments, rejections, victories, the pop music of the 80’s. You’re resilient.
I also want to show us that we are so much more than resilient. We are brave, we are expanding, we are creators. I want to help build boldness with the knowing that there is so much more going on than we realize by offering take home tools that are solid, practical and applicable.
Boldness is not cockiness. Boldness is not brash or rude or abrupt. It doesn’t condescend or judge. It acts, sometimes, before it’s completely ready. It combines spontaneity with sound intellect. Boldness is about inner power not outward control of others. Sometimes boldness doesn’t need to utter a word to be bold. It just needs to BE.
Boldness believes. Even more than that, boldness knows. It knows it is guided and loved and protected. It knows it is not alone. Boldness believes before seeing, having moved beyond ‘seeing is believing’. Boldness trusts even when there’s evidence to the contrary. Boldness is the long game. Resilience gets us, step by step, down the field. As we later connect the dots, we see just how resilient we were. Boldness is moving forward even when the dots seem scattered.
Boldness isn’t age related although it can be. Many youths today are bold, getting real, rejecting outmoded beliefs that no longer serve them. Some of us are later to the game, only realizing, now that we’re in our 50’s, that life is about following your joy, acknowledging your unique design and only choosing what really feels right. No more adopting the Belief Systems of outmoded ways of thinking and processing - MOT’s (modes of thought) like hate, intolerance, colonialism, racism. We’re embracing pluralism, diversity, tolerance, and the much maligned ‘Peace’. What a concept! A WORLD WITHOUT WAR. Now there’s a BOLD idea.
Boldness knows the universe is benevolent and that all things are as they should be. This is a huge statement since much of life is crooked, ill, out of alignment.
For boldness to even make the statement that ‘All things are as they should be’ requires a depth of understanding of the bigger picture – a witnessing of life from 10,000 feet up and 10,000 feet down. Boldness requires profoundness – digging to uncover bigger truths.
Any idea how far the center of the earth is in feet? The answer is roughly 20 million. The paradox of life is that in order to soar, we need to be grounded, well rooted, connected right down to the earth’s core. We can learn to do this. It only takes intent. Another bold concept.
In our workshops, we’ll practice take home tools to help all participants learn experientially. The goal is to enhance our businesses, our relationships, our lives, our connection to who we really are.
