Sound Healing Meditation

Sound Healing Meditation

Since the 1990’s, I’ve sat in a meditation circle. Sitting together for 2 hours a week, eyes closed, has been the single most positive consistent action that helped build my wellness, my resilience and a greater understanding of life.

For almost a decade we sat in silence, offering up a collective chant or song from time to time.  And we did learn to empty the mind.  But it so loved to wander! Then came that first crystal bowl and the meditation experience evolved. It became expansive and life changing. We were introduced to Resonance.

Not only does sound help us focus and empty the mind, sound heals.

Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Cornell Cancer Prevention Centre, has been using sound, including Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls and chanting in work with cancer patients for many years. ‘If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.’*

Testimonials from participants at the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre in Montreal, Qc, corroborate the feeling of enjoyment of sound meditation after just one session.
